My first trip to Lake Tahoe
happened in mid-September, the same time as the fires in the Bay area (then again, I’m struggling to remember a summer/fall without fires in California…)!
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to leave LA for a few days and stay in a house in South Lake Tahoe. That said, NO I didn’t skip school (it’s actually hard for me to do that, as a nerd) — I am taking my SMC courses remotely (as are my peers), so I still went to all my classes.
Weekends, however, are ‘off’ and I finally got to do something I’d been wanting to do since I started researching Lake Tahoe: hike the #1 trail in the area, Mt. Tallac.
I knew the views wouldn’t be the same due to smoke from forest fires, but we did the hike anyway. In this video, I talk about our hike experience and tips for anyone considering this hike.
My #1 piece of advice? take your allergy medicine beforehand!! And bring a couple Kleenex Pocket Packs in case. I went through 1.5 of them. Seasonal allergies are no joke.
Stay healthy and safe everyone! Happy October!
Love,
Shannon
