Neewer Ring Light Kit 18″ from Amazon – set up and experience!

So far so good! Solid product. Bad instructions. See my review below (and on youtube!)

Hi everyone! One of my 2020 goals was to get back on Youtube and make more content for you.  One of the things that had been on my Amazon wish list for a while was this ring light w/stand.  It has a ton of great reviews, and there was a coupon for $20 off. With tax, I paid $87.59.

I tried to have it delivered to an Amazon locker (my preferred mode of delivery for Amazon orders), but the packaging was too large.

As you can see in the video, the original box is quite large.  The kit is in another box inside the box.  I took everything out and — as you can see — it comes with a zipper case for everything, and two filters for the bulbs (white and orange).

As you can see (even though I edited out a lot) — the instructions are NOT great at all.

Here are the papers that come with it:

Note: I went to the website to check re: warranty registration, and it takes you to this page that basically assures you that it already has a one-year warranty.

Okay, so if you look at the instructions closely, you will see that they aren’t exactly clear:

Why do I say that? Because, well, why does the picture show it being bent to the right? I tried and that “soft tube” is anything but.

I even put on gloves to turn that screw at the bottom of the ring light base. It was NOT easy to turn, and my hands are decently strong.

For now, I have no need to bend the “soft tube” – so it’s not a dealbreaker.  But the instruction pic is a bit misleading IMO.

Next:

I put the color filters on with a little difficulty — well, once I figured out the “unique” filter, it all clicked into place relatively easily.

Finally: I show you how to install a smartphone.  To this day I’m not sure what the “ring light cold shoe female base” is…but we got it to work!

Overall: sturdy tripod and nice light with dimmer! Good deal for $87 all in.

Do you have the neewer ring light too? What do you think? Let me know your thoughts below!
